Vernell enjoyed crafting projects, quilting and crocheting and shared her many completed projects with family and friends. She also loved the Alaska outdoors and one of her memories was of a six week trip down the Tanana River with her husband Roy Thompson in a flat bottom riverboat. She loved children and was "grandmother" to the church children while In Alaska.
