Quinn Renae Bartholomew Obituary
After nine months of anticipation and excitement, at 3:51 p.m. Feb. 2, 2017, Quinn Renae Bartholomew made her entrance into this world. Her bright, blue eyes and amazing long lashes made an immediate impact on those lucky enough to meet her. She was welcomed by parents, Brienna and Jack, and a multitude of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She also had her horse, Sage, along with dogs, Cooper, Marley and Scout, waiting for her at home. With eight pairs of cowgirl boots, she was ready to live the life of the old west. Plans were already in motion for her to be surrounded by animals and share in that love with her parents.
However, her life was cut short by a rare genetic disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She left us at 3:51 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2017, at the age of nine months. Quinn was diagnosed with SMA at the age of four months and thus began a battle to beat the odds of this disease with the help of a brand new drug called Spinraza. The costs were high and the community of Fairbanks responded with several fundraisers to help offset costs. From friends to total strangers, the outpouring of love and support was astounding. Fairbanks is an example of the compassion, caring and helping of each other that is needed in our world today. Quinn's family cannot say thank you enough.
In her short life, Quinn had the ability to bring literally hundreds of people together. This is a common comment the family has heard since her recent passing. She has changed people in positive and everlasting ways. She has taught us to appreciate every day and hug those around us.
Quinn leaves behind her parents, Brienna and Jack Bartholomew; grandparents, Bob and Blanche Marok, of Fairbanks; Pam and Mike Machado, of Anza, California; Robert "Bart" Bartholomew, of Scottsdale, Arizona; great-grandmothers, Shirley Ledahl, of Williston, North Dakota; Kathleen Marok, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Helen Burgess, of Ontario, Canada; aunts and uncles, Jake Bartholomew (Amanda Hartley), of Boise, Idaho; Chris Marok (Krystal Wester), of Fairbanks; Trina and Idris Roopnarine, of Apopka, Florida; cousins, Aravon and Alijah Roopnarine and her animal friends. There are also many extended family members, too numerous to mention. Quinn was baptized in Christ, and we look forward to eventually all being together again.
Funeral services were held in Cave Creek, Arizona.
Brienna and Jack are establishing a foundation to assist other SMA families in getting early intervention. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at www.youcaring.com/beCAUSEofQ or mailed to: "beCAUSE of Q," 30028 N.168th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85263.
