I remember singing with Claudia at the old North Pole high school. I was a freshman and she was a senior. I looked up to her and the other classmates from that year. She had a lovely voice. I also remember her, Charlotte Titus, and Claudia´s sister Holly introducing me to life in North Pole. Having lived in North Carolina most of my childhood, transitioning to Alaska was exciting. They were part of creating that excitement. Claudia I´m so glad you are not forgotten, and so loved. Wherever you are, I hope you are singing and at peace.

Claudia was a remarkably talented person. I had the honor of appearing with Claudia in the initial Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater production of Twelfth Night in 1993. I only learned of her passing today (5/29/18) and am truly saddened by this artistic loss. My sincere condolences to Greg and their children and to those who knew her and worked with her. She was a wonderful artist who added so much class to our lives. Thank you Claudia.

My condolences go out to Claudia's family, friends and those who got to know her from a distance in one of the many productions she was involved in. I first became aware of her bright light on the stage of "My Fair Lady" where she played Eliza Doolitle to her husband Greg's Henry Higgins. That was an amazing feat in itself but I understand she has a big hand in making costumes, as well. Who does that? But really was just a typical example of how much she did.
In recent years he had the privilage to work with Claudia doing aviation weather observing at the Fairbanks Internation Airport. She always had craft projects or some kind of music or business activity planned for her shift as we see each other in passing from one shift to the other. A guy from an office down the hall said sometimes heard her beautiful harp music.
I want to share a recent experience I had relating to this work.
I was at a picnic at Pioneer Park on a beautiful day in June last summer where on the hoizon was an incredible display of CB clouds - thunder storm clouds. At about 3pm they arrived and we had one of the biggest storms of the summer. Claudia was working that afternoon shift and when I saw her next I asked her how it was with that storm. She became immediately annimated reaching up one way and then the other saying "lightning struck here and there and there and people were calling up, one guy wanted to know if it was safe to get up on a ladder and I had TS (thunder storm) in present weather for five hours." She had a great day at work I know because she said that too. I am so happy she had that storm last summer that made her so happy. And, because on her shift she had more experience with them, better her than me. I believe I speak for us all here in saying it was an honor to have gotten to know this incredible woman who we also greatly miss. Her faith was also inspirational as well. May God Bless you all at this difficult time. Pam MacDonald

Both Thayne and I were so sorry to hear of Claudia's passing. My best personal contact with her genius as an actor, singer, dancer, etc. was her comic role as the befuddled secretary in "The Pajama Game", staged by FLOT. I was music director and was able to observe first hand Claudia's wizardry on stage as well as behind the scenes. She was absolutely wonderful in this fun role; setting such an incredibly high standard for the other actors as well as the rest of us involved with the production. Yet we also enjoyed knowing her off-stage as a very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable theater junkie who was also just a wonderful person. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Greg and their sons. Your wife and mother has left a great legacy of love and involvement in the arts which the people of Fairbanks will never forget.

Claudia of such loveliness and beauty. So much talent and yet humble and always willing to share a moment and stop and talk. I remember her openness as she shared with me her spiritual healing after the accident. Such a remarkable and warm woman. May peace be with you and your family.

This is (Dwayne) Leo Therriault. Claudia and I had the lead roles in "The Music Man" so many years ago at North Pole High School, and it was easy to see how smart and gifted she was even at that young age. I was happy to hear through the years that she had pursued her dream in California, and found outlets for her creativity when she returned to Alaska. I'm saddened to learn of her passing, and mourn the loss of one of the most bright and talented individuals I've ever known.

Claudia and I crossed paths many times over the past two decades. First in the Fairbanks theatre community and then later at Barnes & Noble when she would do book signings. It was always a joy to chat with her. My boys love her books. Condolences to her family.

I didn't know Claudia personally, but like many, have very much admired her. My father was part of FLOT for many years in the orchestra pit, so I had the privilege to watch her off and on stage growing up, and it was always so fun and inspiring to watch her perform.
My condolences, such a big loss for our Fairbanks community.

I'll miss you my friend. I can't think of the Palace without hearing your voice. I can't think of theatre without you by my side, in the wings, in the audience or in my thoughts. Dionna and I pray that you are at peace, that you are with your child and friends. Whatever Greg and the boys need, we'll be here for them. Thank you for being a mentor and a friend.

Beautiful Pioneer Woman.

The Fairbanks community has lost a wonderful member who was able to enlighten many lives. Claudia was involved in so many ways to make the world a better place, and we all know it is needing some help these days. I was honored to have known her through my teaching with her own son and members of her extended family. To all of her family, know that you are in many people's thoughts and prayers at this time. The extent of her impact on the community, and those around her, will cetainly be noticed in the weeks that follow. Take care,

I was acquainted with Claudia in high school. We sang briefly together When choir director, Rodney Duncan paired us together to sing the alto part of "Annie's Song" by John Denver. I was a freshman and remembered how kind and supportive she was. Her reassuring smile and gentle way put me at ease immediately.
My sincere condolences to Greg, Holly and the rest of Claudia's family are set forth at the time of this writing. Claudia I hope you are at peace and singing with angels in heaven.

Claudia,
I am very saddened by the news of your passing. I was privileged to be friends with you, when our girls were young, and during the time when you directed the Wizard of Oz, an epic show in Fairbanks history. We loved being involved in that, Chantel and I. The only good thing I could think of, when I heard the news today, is that you will be with your sweet daughter Michelle now, whom you missed so. You have touched the lives of so many, what a lovely person, and such a great artist, I cannot put into words what I want to say. Just that we loved you.

GOOD BYE CLAUDIA
I was not a close friend of Claudia's, but I am a great admirer. In 2009, Fairbanks Light Opera Theater did the play Cinderella and the Prince, which was co-directed by Claudia Lively, who wrote the stage play, and Barney McClure, who wrote the music. I became involved when my 10-year-old daughter was cast in the show and I volunteered subsequently to help backstage with set construction and whatever else the stage manager, Kurt Newman, needed. Claudia was wonderful to work with - she treated us all like we were the most important part of the show, and she was so encouraging; especially to the kids. Long after the show was over and we would see her in one place or another, she always remembered us - especially my daughter - and greeted us with hugs and joy. She was an incredible person and I feel blessed to have spent those few months working with her.
My sincerest condolences to her family for your loss and to everyone in this community. She was very talented and made all of us better with her work. I have attached some pictures from the show, most of them taken by Todd Paris (I'm sure he won't mind that I posted them) that I think represent much of the joy and love that she put into her work. Goodbye Claudia Lively, we will miss you.

Claudia Lively was one of the most creative people I have ever met. Her mind was always in the "on" position, dreaming up new ways to deliver a line, cross the stage, or interact with another stage character. And she had wonderful insights on fabric and costuming. A lady with real flair! She will be greatly missed.

The size of the font you're reading cannot begin to reflect the grandeur of the woman I'm about to write about: if I could, I would take out a full page ad in the New York Times on the life of Claudia Lively.
There's a ripple effect in a community like Fairbanks when we lose someone like her. My dad calls them "George Bailey Moments" - referring to the film "It's a Wonderful Life," in which the angel Clarence shows Jimmy Stewart just how many lives his character has changed for the better.
I am one of thousands of people who's life Claudia made - well - more lively. As a young actor growing up in Fairbanks, she gave me three things:
Chance: the opportunity to recklessly pursue what I love. Still to this day, she is one of the most talented directors I have ever met.
Respect: she always treated me like a peer. I find this so fascinating. Someone with her talent had all the reason in the world to grow frustrated with my learning curve. Not her. She was patient, encouraging - artistically provoking.
And third, and most surprisingly: Imagination. This is the time-release latent gift which I find most enjoyable. As a young kid, I was full of imagination - zero loss of innocence. As I got older, I realized that the upkeep of child-like imagination is a daily practice. And a difficult one. Claudia never lost that. As an adult, her vision and her quest to transport theatre-goers completely to other worlds never lost its stride. I am in complete awe.
When I think of Claudia, I think of her magnificent husband Greg. I think of their wonderful children and family. I think of the theater community of Fairbanks. And beyond. She brings us all many "George Bailey Moments".
And perhaps, now, a little Clarence.
With love,
David Gregory

Claudia was such a beautiful talented person and actress that Gary and I both had the pleasure being with on and off the stage. We had so much fun with her and Greg. I am sure that she leaves behind a gaping hole in Fairbanks that only she could fill. Our hearts go out to your children and all of the family.
I know that she is just filling the sky with glitter and watching over all of you.
She had a beautiful and generous soul and that will continue to live in all our hearts
