Stanley Earl Swaim was born in Fairbanks on Jan. 23, 1948. He passed away at 71 on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the John F. Keever Solace Center, in Asheville, North Carolina, after a short illness of pancreatic cancer.
Raised in Fairbanks, the son of Claude Everett and Susie (Frances Ann Offill) Swaim, he was also a resident of other communities in Alaska including Homer and Sitka. In later years, he moved to Asheville.
Stanley Swaim was a 1965 Lathrop High School graduate, and afterwards attended Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka.
Stanley had a lifelong career of driving trucks through the Teamsters Local 959, retiring out of that union. One could also call Stan a jack-of-all-trades as his passions and hard work were in many fields. Stan had a deep love and appreciation for music and played guitar, bass guitar and keyboards. He performed in a high school band called "The Bonnevilles" and was the bass guitarist for a popular Fairbanks rock and roll band in the 1960s, "The Original Syn," that played commercially for several years. He was a member of many other bands throughout Alaska and the Lower 48.
Stanley loved to make jewelry. While still living in Alaska, Stan participated in and donated time and money as a jewelry vendor at Foodstock in Fairbanks, a charity event to stock the local Foodbank. Stan also enjoyed cooking and creating meals for family and friends, and enjoyed many other fields of art and entertainment. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for his boisterous personality.
In his later years Stanley found Christ through the Joyce Meyer ministries, and avidly watched and studied the Bible through her series. Earlier in life Stanley had been a Presbyterian, and had attended University Community Presbyterian Church in Fairbanks.
Stanley Earl Swaim was predeceased by his parents, Claude in 2003 and Susie in 2018.
Stanley leaves behind his ex-wife, Alice Rose Roberts Swaim, and their three children, son, Gregory (Cathy Sannes) Swaim, and their two boys David and Jonathan Swaim; daughter, Jennifer Swaim; daughter, Amber (Oskar Brinton Brown) Swaim, and their three children, Grover, Izze and Catkin Brown. Also, Stanley leaves behind three brothers, Eddie (Sydonia) Swaim, David (Cindy) Swaim and Kelvin (Shirley) Swaim; one sister, Charlotte Liebel; and numerous nephews and nieces and many close friends.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Stan's life; the date and time TBA.

At end of the earthly pilgrimage, to being at home in our Father's house, promised by Jesus, His Son:
"In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I (Jesus) go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:2, 3 KJV) What a grand destiny for brother Stanley, who, through faith, found Christ as his Savior later in life via the Joyce Meyer Ministries! We rejoice, knowing that our loved one is at home with the Lord, per God's Word: "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

SWEET AND ENTHUSIASTIC STANLEY, born and raised in Alaska. You created quite a 'stir' as first born for Dad and Mom-Susie. Saw your photos and heard of your events in the earlier days and then you grew-up to become a fully enthusiastic adult. God richly blessed you with a family of your own.
It excites me that you played music and excelled at the guitar. Reminds me of Dad always entertaining with music. It was either the piano or the guitar. Music was always in the air.
Rest in Peace with Our Lord, little Brother. Lots of Love.
