Eva Carol Barnes Robbins passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at age 72. Carol was born June 10, 1945 in Lumberton, North Carolina, the only daughter to Arthur Hicks Barnes and Mary Frances Prevatte Barnes. She graduated from Lumberton High School and briefly attended Campbell University. In 1967, she met and married the love of her life, William Lynn Robbins Sr., who preceded her in death in 2013. Together they had two children, lived in Lumberton, Myrtle Beach, SC and Plantation, FL before relocating to Raleigh, NC. Carol loved her granddaughters "more than her luggage", sunsets at the beach, penny slots at Atlantic City, Jimmy Buffett songs and a dry vodka martini (3 olives). She was a very special lady with an infectious smile, a well-hidden wild streak and a great sense of humor. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Billy Hugh Barnes and Arthur Richard Barnes, Sr. She leaves behind a daughter, Leslie Robbins Arnold and her husband Shawn, a son, William Lynn Robbins, Jr., granddaughters Margaret Ruth Arnold and Carolann Nicole Robbins, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special extended family. Please join her family and friends in celebration of her life at Montlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 with the visitation starting at 2:00 pm followed by a service in the Mausoleum at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to honor Carol to please think a kind thought or prayer and raise a glass. That's what Carol would have wanted.

Leslie and William, I am so sorry to learn of Carol's passing. I had her on my mind this morning, and searched to see if I could find anything regarding your Mom and Dad. I have thought of her so often and wondered how she was getting along.
She was such a great inspiration to me as a co-worker at NCDA&CS. I learned so much from her. She was always the kind of friend that you could go months or years without seeing and pick right up where you left off. She was a true friend. She loved her family and was so proud of all of you.

I grew up in the house on Maple Street that was right behind the house Carol grew up in. As children, we were the best of friends and played together every day. We lost touch after I left Lumberton, but I never forgot her. And I won't now.

I worked with Carol at the N.C Dept. of Commerce and always enjoyed our conversations. Carol dearly loved her family. She will be greatly missed.
