Every time I get a gig and think of who illask to play with me, I think of Court. I heard him first at the Homestead. We had a gig there and on break we were walking down the hall and in a room I heard this fantastic piano playing. I asked Bob Bowen, who is that? He said, that's Court Stewart. Years later I got to play with him. He was so perfect for my music and so easy to work with. I loved his quirky personality. He reminded me to not take things too seriously.

Truly sorry for his loss.
I was just randomly googling Court which I have been doing once in a while to see if he shows up more with his piano performing and I've been trying to reach him but I couldn't.
I wish to hear from Jamie if he sees this message.
I pray for his soul.

So terribly sorry to hear of Court's death. He was a gentle, kind soul who spent much time carefully tuning my Steinway piano. May the LORD rest his soul and carry him safely to heaven!

I am shocked and so saddened to hear just now of Court's passing. He was always a very kind, gracious and patient host of Jazz jams I would sometimes attend at C. Grace in Raleigh.
An extremely talented musician and fine, very sensitive human being. --- My deep sadness for you all - and for myself as well - that I won't be seeing or singing with him again in this lifetime.

Please accept my sympathies for your loss. I knew Court for just a few years. The first time I became aware of Court was when I was performing at the Homestead. I was on break and walking down the hall when I heard piano music which immediately caught my ear. I asked Bob Bowen who was playing and he said, Court Stewart. I decided right then I wanted to play music with this wonderful pianist. It took several years, but I hired Court to play with me for a gig in New Bern, NC. We'd never played together before and much of the material was new to both of us. We rehearsed for an hour before the gig. We were both a little nervous but with Court's zany sense of humor and his creative arrangement ideas, we pulled it off and received a standing ovation. I played another 3 times with Court for my Great Ladies of Blues and Jazz program. He was the perfect pianist for this show. He was an incredibly flexible and knowledgeable musician, who held a deep respect for the music and his fellow musicians. I'll miss him. Barbara Martin
