Eleanor Vickers Coley, age 89, of Angier, NC, formerly of Raleigh, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2019. Her last days were spent with Family and the staff of Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh.

She was born on December 6, 1929 in Raleigh, the daughter of Henry T Vickers and Dicy R Vickers, Eleanor graduated from the Hugh Morson high school, Peace College, and from the Rex School of Nursing. She retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 36 years of service. At her retirement she was Supervisor of medical Services. She served in various offices of the NC Occupational Health Nurses Assoc. She was among the first in the state to be certified by the American Occupational Health Nurses Assoc., and was a recipient of the Nurse of the year award by that association.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Richard F. Coley, son Phillip Ivan Coley, brother Hubert D. Vickers and sister Helen V. Wright. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Ballance and husband Jerry of Willow Springs, her daughter Shannon Griffith of Wendell, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was a witness of great Faith in her Savior,. She was a past member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, a past member of Cape Carteret Baptist, and present member of Angier Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Monday January 14, 2019 prior to the memorial service in the Chapel at Montlawn, followed by burial at Montlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angier Baptist Church, 155 S. Hickory Street, Angier, NC 27501 or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
