Eugene Charles Juras

June 30, 1932 - June 30, 2018

Eugene ("Gene") Charles Juras passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 30, 2018—it was his 86th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Gail Ann (Collditz) Juras, sons Michael, Paul (Colleen), and David (Paula); grandchildren Kenneth (Jill), Ashley (Drew Kelkres), Stephen, Katherine and Genevieve Anne; great-grandchildren Nola and Cavan. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary (Tulacz) Juras, and sister Connie.

Gene graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1949. From 1952 to 1956 he provided radar operations for the USAF NEAC in Labrador, and later in Rochester MN, where he met Gail. They married on June 22, 1957, lived most of their 61 years together in Hyde Park NY, and moved to Raleigh in 2016.

Gene was a lithographer with Western Publishing, applying the layers of color to publications that included the beloved Little Golden Books. He was an active member of the Lithographers Union, Polish National Alliance, Polish American Club of Poughkeepsie, Marist College Red Fox Club, Knights of Columbus, Lions Clubs and Regina Coeli Roman Catholic Church of Hyde Park.

Gene was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and "Grandpa," "Grandpa Gene" and "Dziadzio" to his grandchildren. He was a kind and loyal friend with a delightful sense of humor, gift for storytelling, and a keen mind for numbers, facts and detail.

Gene will be placed at rest during a private service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh.

The family would like to thank the many professionals at The Cardinal at North Hills and Doctors Making Housecalls in Raleigh for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, remembrances will be well-used by the Lions Clubs International Sight Programs.
