Jarvis Dwight Atkins, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Luther Dwight and Marjorie Graham Atkins. He served his country proudly for 4 years in the Army National Guard. After his service, he was employed by Carolina Power & Light Company. He retired after being inducted into The Pioneer Club and completed 26 years of service. A longtime member of Hollands United Methodist Church, he participated in numerous athletic programs and fundraisers.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Rd., Garner, NC 27529.

A graveside service will held 12:30 pm Friday at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.

Jarvis is survived by Jean B. Atkins, his beloved wife of 58 years; daughters, Leigh Anne Atkins Harris (Ricky) and Pam Atkins Adams (Ronnie) ; grandchildren, April Lombard (Miquel), Ashleigh Harris, Bayleigh Adams and Kasey Adams; great-grandchildren, Alaina Lombard, Luke Lombard; nephew, Timothy Cunningham; sister, Mary Atkins Mundy of Garner and nieces and nephews; special friends, Ruth Lacy, Margaret Hryninck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
