John "Carroll" Pate, Jr., 51, of 9505 Car Kare Drive, passed away September 8, 2011 at the William Dunlap Hospice House of Raleigh with his family surrounding his bedside along with his dog, Titan. Carroll was born in Wayne County on January 8, 1960 to John Carroll Pate, Sr. and Dorothy Langley Pate. Carroll was retired as a gas line inspector with PSNC Gas Company. Through this employment he became friends with many natural gas line customers and members of the Zebulon and surrounding community. As long as his health permitted he was a faithful member of Zebulon Baptist Church. Carroll was as devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend to many.
Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597.
To celebrate Carroll's life there will be a "Swing for Pate" memorial softball game to be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Wendell Park Large Field.
The Pate family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home.
Surviving: wife, Robin Martin Pate; son, Kyle Samuel Martin Pate of Greenville; daughter, Callie Olivia Martin Pate of the home; his dog, Titan Pate; parents, John C. Pate, Sr. and Dorothy Langley Pate both of Goldsboro; brother, Michael Pate of Goldsboro; sister, Tammy P. Osborne of New Orleans; brother-in-law, Edward Martin (Janet) of Princeton; sister-in-law, Donna Martin-Leutgens of Hamstead; nieces and nephews, Tyler and Tanner Pate, Caroline, Gabrielle, Dalton Osborne, Trey, Mirinda, and Kaylee Martin, Cody and Jeremy Leutgens; in-laws, Granny and Grandad Martin of Princeton.
