"Bill" Moffitt
July 12. 1922 - October 31, 2018
Chapel Hill
John William "Bill" Moffitt, 96, died October 31th at Carolina Meadows Health Center. Son of Elmer and Mary Deaton Moffitt, he was born in Greensboro, NC. In 1947 he married his wife of 68nyears, Hilda Gae Renegar Moffitt. They shared 68 wonderful years until her death in 2016.
Bill served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941-45. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill, then began a 59 year career in the healthcare field, first with the Hospital Savings Association (now NC Blue Cross and Blue Shield). and later as a consultant for PhyAmerica and related companies.
Bill, Hilda, and three other couples founded the Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church in 1958, with a vision of welcome to all races. He was later an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at Binkley Baptist Church, Sunday, November 11 at 3pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Olin T. Binkley Memorial Church or the Children's Home Society of NC.

Bill was a leader in every way. I had the pleasure of knowing him through NCHFMA. He was active and encouraging. Heaven will be in good hands as Bill takes the lead. Rest in Peace.
