Beth Arnold Obituary

Beth Loraine Arnold
Raleigh
Beth Loraine Arnold passed away peacefully on November 27, 2011. She was born January 5, 1951 in Denver, CO to Faith Arnold and the late Harry Arnold.
Beth's primary passion was art. In 1995 she opened the art gallery Fabio, Fabio in Raleigh's City Market. An accomplished artist herself, Beth served on the Board of the Visual Art Exchange for many years, actively promoting and supporting artists in the Raleigh area.
In addition to art, Beth fervently supported women and families struggling against domestic violence and sexual assault. She earned her master's degree in psychology/social work from NC State University in 2011. After graduating, she began working at the Women's Center of Raleigh and the nonprofit agency, InterAct. Beth enjoyed her new career immensely, providing safety, support and awareness to victims of violence.
Another passion for Beth was her love of animals and nature. She was devoted to caring for her African Grey Parrot, Ricky. Beth was an avid supporter of The Conservators' Center, Inc. of Mebane, a nonprofit organization that preserves threatened species through rescuing wildlife in need. With her gentle nature, kindness and understanding, she was a caring match for animals of all species.
These qualities made Beth a very special person to anyone she met. She was a wonderful woman, treasured by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Beth is survived by her son, Dominick Jonathan Arnold of Raleigh; brothers, Bob Arnold, Jonathan Arnold, and Brian Arnold; sister, Pauline Espinosa; niece, Corrie Luellen; and nephew, Jules Landis; all of Denver, CO.
A service will be held at the Visual Art Exchange at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011. The Visual Art Exchange is located at 309 W. Martin Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to InterAct at 1012 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27605 or www.interactofwake.org

It was my pleasure to work with Beth at the Governor's Crime Commission during her internship, and after, as she generously gave of her time to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Beth had the kindest spirit and she was one of the most humble people I have ever known. I am so glad our paths crossed and having known her will continue to inspire me. Sympathies to her family.

I had the privilege of learning with Beth in the MSW program at NCSU, she was so dedicated and humble she inspired all of us with her experience and wisdom. Beth was a soft-spoken, quiet, gentle woman on the inside, but her light radiated all she touched, her smile was infectious and her generosity unlimited. I am a better person for knowing her, we all are.

Beth's compassion far surpassed "above and beyond." She embodied the seven principles of advocacy...Objectivity, Independence, Sensitivity & Understanding, Persistence and Patience, Knowledge and Judgment, Positive Assertiveness, Ethics and Respect for Others. I am deeply saddened at her passing. She is dearly missed. Laura Hilton, Raleigh, North Carolina
