Gordon and Gail Stewart

May 24, 2020

George was a good friend to Gordon, as well as a hunting and fishing partner. They traveled to Gordon's home state of Maine together for turkey and deer hunting. One time the group looked for George for over an hour and found him and Gordon's older brother Wayne asleep in a sunny spot in a field! George also took Gordon to NYC to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital after Gordon was diagnosed with prostate cancer, because George was so familiar with that area from having worked in the FBI there. Gail first got acquainted with George when she lived in the same condo complex for a while while working with a state legislator at the General Assembly. She also cleaned condos for four other legislators there. Her first acquaintance with George came when she set off the fire alarm in one of the condos, and as President of the condo association, he was the only one with the key to turn off the alarm! Gail learned how big George's heart was and what a gracious host he was when he let her use his condo to have a birthday party for herself for her 54th (?) birthday. Everyone who came was impressed by his graciousness and his knowledge in so many areas. And he ws never ashamed of the pucture of his mother hat was under the bar (because thst was the only wall space big enough to hold it)! Gail always wanted to proofread and edit the book George was going to write, but that won't happen now, I guess. It would have made fascinating reading!
