DANTE E. ROSATO passed away peacefully at his home in Sarasota, Florida on Wednesday August 1, 2018 after a long illness. He was born on November 20, 1927 in Torrington, CT. He was 90.
Dante was a WWII veteran, an avid golfer and loved to travel. He enjoyed all things western, traveled the western United States extensively, and for a short time owned a ranch in Sarasota, Florida. As a young man he worked for Castro Convertibles in Danbury before working for many years as an accountant. Dante eventually started and owned his own business for 20 years, Metco, based in Stamford, CT before moving to Florida.
Dante was predeceased by his wife June, daughter Gina Rosato Dell'Angelo, and brothers Louis, Angelo and Dewey Rosato. He is survived by 1 brother Asvero Rosato of New Milford CT, 1 sister Nancy Legnani of Berlin, CT, his children Marcia Kusen and her husband Ken of Florida; Mark Rosato and his wife Cindy of Danbury, Lynn Rosato of Woodbury, CT, Gary Rosato and his wife Fran of Danbury, Marie McCarthy and her husband Harold of New Milford, Anne McKnight and her husband Gordy of New Milford, Jeff Rosato of Danbury, Peter "Dino" Rosato and his wife Kate of Colorado, and Julie Rosato of North Carolina. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Catholic funeral Mass was performed by his favorite priest and fellow Italian friend, Father Fausto, at St. Martha's Church in Sarasota, Florida on August 8, followed by a Military Funeral Honors ceremony at Sarasota National Cemetery where he is buried with his wife June.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday September 10 at St. Gregory's Church in Danbury, CT.
