Elizabeth Tomascak Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Tomascak
Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Ferry) Tomascak of Smith St in Seymour CT, formerly of Brookfield CT, passed peacefully on 7/8/18 with her family at her side, after a long illness.
Born in Bethel CT on November 16, 1936, Betty was the daughter of the late Edna (Markle) and Leonard Ferry. She was predeceased by her sisters Judy Bristol, Alice Prinz and Barbara Trowbridge, and her husband Vincent "Fox" Tomascak. Betty is survived by her three children: Donna Katsuranis (and her husband Terry) and John Tomascak (and his wife Patty) of Brookfield, and Paul Tomascak (and his wife Anita) of Baldwinsville NY; her three grandchildren: Andrew, Tyler, and Mary Tomascak; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Bethel High School, Betty moved to Brookfield in 1957 when she married Fox. Their enormous garden provided food throughout the year for their family and many others, thanks to Betty's legendary canning skills. If only we had a nickel for every cucumber that she pickled…
Betty was active for many years in the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Brookfield Fire Department. In her later years she enjoyed driving as a volunteer for the Cancer Society and helping out in the Giving Garden, a charity started by her children which gives veggies to local food pantries.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday 7/17 at 5:30p.m. at the New Milford United Methodist Church, 68 Danbury Rd, New Milford, CT. There will be no calling hours.
