Werner, Dr. Gerald J.
Dr. Gerard John Werner, 62 of Danbury CT, husband of Virginia Alosco-Werner, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 30, 2013. He was born in Yonkers, New York to the late Gerard and Margaret( Hermann) Werner and was raised in Hartsdale, NY along with his brothers, John and Paul. Dr. Werner received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY New Paltz and received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from National College of Chiropractic in Lombard Illinois. He practiced Chiropractic Medicine for 25 years in Hartsdale, New York. He then moved to Danbury CT where he followed his true calling as a science teacher at Rogers Park Middle School in Danbury. Dr. Werner was passionate about teaching and worked tirelessly to provide the best education possible for his students. Known to his friends and family as Gerry, he was a loving husband and father. He married Virginia Alosco on November 7, 1993. Together they built a beautiful life and family with their twin sons Matthew and Benjamin. Gerry's hobby and life outside of school revolved around his family. Trips to the aquarium, pool, beach or just running errands on the weekend were always a family outing. In addition to his wife and twin sons, he is survived by his brothers, John and Paul, their wives, Sharon and Jacqueline and their children. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 4. 2014 at 2 pm at King Street United Church of Christ, 201 South King Street, Danbury. The family will receive friends at the King Street Church at 1:30 pm prior to the 2pm service and following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Dr. Gerard Werner's memory to the Danbury Education Foundation (Rogers Park Science Department), Office of the Mayor, Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.
