James B. Bain
James B. Bain, 89, of Wappingers Falls, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Castle Point V.A. Medical Center. He was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y. August 14, 1928, the son of James W. Bain and Hope Breckenridge. Jim was employed at IBM, Poughkeepsie as a manufacturing engineer. On December 9, 1950, he was married to Barbara Ann Vincent, who died March 1, 1996. They had resided in this area since 1954. Jim was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the Masonic Lodge in Wappingers Falls, Commodore of the Dutchess Boat Club in Beacon for over 30 years, was a founder of the Calladen Pipe Band, and belonged to the Clock & Watchman Association. Jim was also a past village trustee in the third ward, served on the Tri-Municipal sewer commision, and was chairman of the Lake committee in the village. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1951, and was a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering. Surviving are his children, Beverly L Smith (Perry) of Poughkeepsie, Kimberly J. Rausch (Patrick) of New Paltz, Lawrie A. Bain-Alves (Anthony) of Wappingers Falls, and James T. Bain (Karen), 11 Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren, a sister, Beverly Hope Bain of Prescott, Ontario, Canada. Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Donations may be made to the General Purpose Fund (GPF-1515) at V.A. Mid Hudson Health Care System, 41 Castle Point Rd., Wappingers Falls, N.Y. 12590.
