John W Vitti
Sep 11, 1947 - Mar 25, 2021John William Vitti, age 73, beloved husband, father, and Papa (originally from Danbury), passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2021 at his home in Cottonwood, AZ. John was born and raised in Stamford, CT enlisted with the US Coast Guard, and worked as a computer engineer with Pitney Bowes for 35 years. John was also a competitive ballroom dancer, starting at age 7, which led him to open Vitti's Dance Studio in 1975 which is still in operation today. John was selected to represent the US 3 times at the World Dance Championship in Europe. He really enjoyed teaching dance to the entire community, holding many dances around the area, competing in regional and national competitions with his students, and was an instructor for the Arts program at Immaculate High School. His passion for dance was evident by all who sought perfection, only to be instructed to "try it again". And while he may have seemed demanding on the dance floor, it was all a "performance" as John put everyone's needs before himself.
John is survived by his wife Andrea Pesso of Cottonwood, AZ, his brother Ron Vitti and wife Diana of Danbury, CT, three sons John, Brian and Michael, along with 6 grandchildren John, Haley, Torre, Trey, Brody and Mickey.
Plans for a celebration of John's life are in process and will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society.

John Vitti was the means by which many of us were introduced to dance.
While he worked with beginners as well as accomplished practitioners, he never compromised the standards to which he wanted all to aspire to. He was willing to explain the history and proper form while teaching the various dances; his encouragement was often times 'enthusiastic'. When we moved to Danbury and over the years since we have found that the community that John and his instructors have created, both in his studio and social dances, have provided us with some of the most rewarding connections and meaningful friendships we have made.
Thank you, John.

Our condolences to the Vitti family. The 20 years we've know him were definitely a pleasure. He will be missed and things won't be the same at the Vitti family gatherings. Rest peacefully as you Waltz your way to the Lord's dance floor.
