Barry Whalen, a lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 14, 2010. He is survived by his wife Adele and three children, Christopher, Heather, and Barry Joseph. Barry was born in Bronxville, N.Y., grew up in Pelham, N.Y. and resided in Brookfield for the past 38 years. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, April 17th at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes, 3 Old Town Park Rd., New Milford, CT 06776. In lieu of flowers, con-tributions can be made to Regional Hospice of Western CT, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810, Meals on Wheels, 232 North Elm St., Waterbury, CT 06702, or Habitat For Humanity 90 Shelter Rock Rd., Danbury, CT 06810 in his memory.

Dear Adele,Chris,Heather and BJ,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I have such wonderful memories of Barry as I grew up. Barry took me and our other cousin, Bruce, to my first ever rock concert at Iona College - the Beach Boys! I always found Barry easy to talk to and even as a teenager, he would listen and give me excellent advice. I am sorry that we drifted apart as the families moved from the NY area.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Adele and Family, I was saddened to hear of Barry's passing. I was privileged to work with him on our Board of Directors. Dear Adele,
I don't know if you remember me, since we lost contact some thirty years ago.
Nevertheless,I was shocked to learn about Barry. Way too young.
But I will always remember him as the dedicated educator that he was, as well as the man who shared many wonderful experiences with my wife and myself.

Debbie & I were deeply saddened to learn of Barry's passing. It was somewhat comforting to read that he passed peacefully. At least we have fond memories to fall back on. We hope our prayers and the prayers of other friends and family will provide consolation during this difficult time.
