I met Tom through his sister who was my French student in Hawthorne, NJ. I tutored him in French for his doctoral program and we developed a good friendship. I am so saddened to hear this news through Montclair State University. My heartfelt sympathies go to his wonderful family.

One of the joys of working at Book of the Month Club was getting to chat with Tom. So smart and so, so supportive of my creative and personal endeavors. Introduced me to his tailor who made my wedding suit. I wanted to share that as it feels like such a Tom thing. Rest In Peace my friend.

Tom was a colleague of mine though we never met face to face. Over the years, he joined me many times on my daily Ave Maria/EWTN radio program during phone interviews. My producer and I always knew that if Tom had written on something he'd be an engaging, informative guest. He was an energetic, fresh voice, with a good sense of humor and a touch of irony. For all of his learning he maintained a comfortable common touch. He was also a great brother in Christ. I hope to spend the time face to face with him In eternity that eluded us on earth because we had to break for another guest or commercial. Rest in peace, Tom. .

My heart aches for your family, Tom. I send my deepest sympathy and condolences. My first memory of you was seeing you in the HHS production of "You Can't Take it With You." I think I fell in love with you as Elwood P. Dowd in "Harvey." You were always kind to me and even took me to the Valentine dance when I was a freshman; neck brace and all! I'm sad now but am happy to have known you and that we'll all be able to continue to 'hear' your voice through your books. Thanks for the memories!

So sorry to hear this. In grad school, Tom was a loving caretaker for our baby daughter when I'd go off to class.

A true friend and great person. Tom, you will be missed dearly and a void fills my heart. Be at peace and knowing the gifts of God are irrevocable as it is said in Proverbs, I will never forget your presence in my life.

I'm in shock. What a sad, sad day. Such a talent and a sweet man. A rare person. Rest In Peace, my friend.
