Vincent P. Carlucci Obituary
Vincent P. Carlucci
Vincent P. Carlucci, age 69 of Danbury, CT passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Vinny was born on April 19, 1949 in Greenwich, CT to Vincent P. Carlucci and Catherine M. (Mabey) Carlucci. He grew up in Port Chester, New York and attended local schools, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1967. It was at Port Chester High School that he met the love of his life, Marie (Carpentieri) Carlucci. Through his relationship with Marie, he also gained a brother and lifelong friend in Charles Carpentieri. Vinny and Marie married June 28, 1969 in Port Chester.
On August 10, 1967 Vinny enlisted in the Army to serve his country. From 1968 to 1969 he did a tour in Vietnam and from 1969 to 1970 in Germany. During his tour in Vietnam, Vinny was awarded a Purple Heart with Clusters, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross, our nation's second highest medal for valor.
Vinny had a natural way of problem solving, was uniquely mechanically inclined, and had an innate ability to fix anything. These qualities supported a successful career in manufacturing management for many years. His work for various employers led him to assignments in Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio, and China. He retired in March of 2018.
Since moving to Danbury in 1974 his life outside of work was centered around his family and friends. Most weekends he could be found at a baseball park or hockey rink cheering on his sons and later, his grandsons. He was a voracious reader who loved history and spending time in the sun (preferably on a beach). Vinny was an active member of both Catholic War Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; his son Vincent (Liz) of New Milford; his son Christopher of Danbury, and his son Brian (Melissa) of Ashland, Virginia; his grandchildren Christian and Nicholas of New Milford, and Salvatore, Gianna, and Matteo of Ashland; his siblings Kathleen Wassall, Denise Lockwood, and Paul Carlucci. He is also survived by his brother in law Charles Carpentieri (Ann Marie) and his nieces Teri Ann, Christie, Michele, and several great nieces and nephews. His beloved dog Lucy will miss his cuddles.
Calling hours at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury CT will be on Thursday, September 27th from 5 to 9 p.m. The memorial service is also at Green Funeral Home on Friday, September 28th at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 149 at 5 Byron St, Danbury, CT 06810 or Catholic War Veterans Post 1042, 2 Shalvoys Ln., Danbury, CT 06810.
