Camille Pace

Camille Pace, formerly Mildred Pace Paltauf of Newtown, passed away on March 22, 2012 at the age of 74 surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Pace suffered a devastating stroke in 2010. Ms. Pace was born in Stamford CT in 1937 the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Hanus) Pace. Camille grew up there and in Darien, CT. Ms. Pace graduated from The Latin America Institute in New York with a secretarial degree. She was employed with the Nestle Corporation as a Bilingual Secretary and then later worked for Brent Ricard in the import and export business. She was deeply involved with Le Leche League and served on their board in a number of positions. She was an avid gardener in both flowers and vegetables. She was a Reiki instructor teaching individually as well as through Newtown Continuing Education. She was passionate about the arts. She was a member of the Brookfield Craft Center and produced ceramics and pottery in her home studio known as Millie's Momentum. She was also a member of the Flagpole Photographers. In her golden years she became interested in painting as well as playing the violin. She was also very active with the Society of Creative Arts in Newtown (SCAN). She was a Trooper with the Second Company Connecticut Governors Horse Guard in Newtown and enjoyed riding and caring for her horse Bumper. Ms. Pace was previously married to Richard E. Paltauf. They lived in Danbury for many years before moving to Newtown in 1974. Ms. Pace is survived by her four children: Richard Paltauf and his wife Cindy from Newtown, Rhonda Paltauf and her friend Peter from Essex, Rosalie Fournier and her husband Brian from Canton and Russell Paltauf and his wife Micola from Southbury. She is also survived by her two brothers: Thomas J. Pace Jr. and his wife Linda from Bethel and Salvatore Pace and friend Mary from Ivoryton. She also leaves six grandchildren Kayla, Jeff, Nate, Emily, Ryan and Raegan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. Calling hours are on Monday March 26, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to SCAN P. O. Box 41, Newtown, CT 06470.
