Patrice Beers-Konefsky Obituary

Beers-Konefsky, Patrice
Patrice "Patti" Ann Beers-Konefsky, age 60, died peacefully in her home in Albuquerque on January 12, 2017. She was accompanied at the time of her passing by her beloved husband Bryan and several dear friends.
Patti was born on August 11, 1956 and was raised in Brookfield, Connecticut, where she graduated from high school in 1974. She is a 1987 graduate of Fairfield University. Patti loved the New England countryside and cherished her experiences growing up there with her family.
After moving to Albuquerque in 1991, she worked as an office administrator for the Anti-Defamation League and, subsequently, ABQMR, a research and development company working in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
A lover of music, Patti was an accomplished pianist and accordion player since her youth. She was a longtime member Albuquerque Accordion Club.
Patti had a quick wit and a dry, quirky sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to others. "I had a lot of fun...and love...during my life," she said with gratitude before she died.
Patti is survived by her husband, Bryan Konefsky, an experimental media artist and professor of Media Studies at the University of New Mexico. Together for more than 30 years, Patti and Bryan shared a deep love of art, good friends, hiking, travel, animals, gardening and progressive causes. They traveled widely and attended film festivals in Argentina, Cuba, Russia, Serbia and South Korea. Patti loved animals and adopted numerous rescue dogs, bestowing them with great affection and care. She was a volunteer and dog groomer at Animal Humane New Mexico.
Patti is also survived by her parents Dorothy and Robert Beers of Brookfield, CT; her brother Darrell and his wife Barbara, of Danbury, CT; her niece Chrissy Guylette of Danbury, CT; her father- and mother-in-law, Victor and Jean Konefsky of Albuquerque; numerous friends and colleagues; rescue dogs Fanny and Billy and a temperamental and entertaining cockatiel, Timmy.
Kind, generous, fun loving and loyal, Patti will be deeply missed by all beings who had the good fortune to know her.
There will be a private memorial gathering at a date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made in Patti's honor to Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary, which provides end-of-life and hospice care to older, unwanted animals. For more information, please visit www.kindredspiritsnm.org/

Patti and I worked together when I was a graduate student and she was an administrative assistant at Lovelace Research Institute. I moved to the East Coast but she and I stayed in touch when I came out to visit my parents in Santa Fe each Xmas. Bryan and I also got to know each other during this time. Once a year we got together but it was always as if there had been no time that passed and we just continued on from where we left off the last time we saw each other. We hadn't seen in each other in a few years but that connection remained and I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She touched me deeply and I will always feel connected to her and Bryan. I will always remember the never ending laughter and how we always spent time with animals - at her house, the zoo or just walking in the park. Rest easy Patrice and know that you impacted all of us positively - animal and human alike.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. During this difficult time may you be comforted by fond memories and loving words; like those found at Isaiah 57:15.

Rarely do you meet someone and feel as if you have known them for years, but that is how I felt when I met Patti. She was extraordinarily warm, welcoming, and witty. In fact, she was just plain extraordinary. There is a big hole in this world where Patti once was. She will be missed and remembered.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Patti once, almost a year ago. She was one of those rare individuals that you wish you had in your life always. I'm sad knowing that I won't get to know her better. My love to Bryan, her family and her many dear friends.

Sending my love to Bryan and all of Patti's family during this time. Patti was an amazing woman with a strong spirit, wonderful sense of humor and great compassion. She helped me through many heartbreaks and problems with pets and just life in general. I am so very grateful to have known her during her time here on earth.

Patti will be deeply missed by anyone who knew her. She was not only beautiful on the outside, but even more so on the inside. We did not have the luxury of visiting often, but whenever we did manage to get together, it was as if no time had passed in between. Her keen wit and somewhat twisted sense of humor made her the perfect match for cousin Bryan. Thank you for the wonderful times we have shared over the years. We will miss you very much Patti, and pray that you are in a much better place free of all pain and suffering. God bless you. Our deepest sympathy goes out to our cousin Bryan, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Vic, The Beers Family, and to all her friends. Thank you for being there Lauren and Kevin.

Love, Vin and Robbie

Patti was a gift to the world. Those who were blessed to know her will agree. Jer and I loved her wit and sense of humour. She loved her dogs and they loved her. I believe that dear Patti is looking down on all of us and saying: "I am okay... take care of my Bryan". We will Patti, we promise. We love you and will carry you in our hearts. Love always & forever, Jerry, Lauren and Amy.
