Troy, N.Y. - John Melvin Pepper passed away on Jan. 5, 2019, while in hospice care at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y., after a prolonged illness.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George F. and Dorothy F. Pepper; and his older brother, George F. Pepper, Jr.
John was very proud that he served as the first president of Barnwell Nursing Home's Resident Counsel. John also served as a minister of marriage.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Joan Benoit Pepper of Troy, N.Y.; a younger brother, James A. Pepper; and three sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Shreckengast, Dorothy "Dottie" Moyer and Patricia "Pepper" Jaffray, all of Delaware. He was the brother-in-law of Ernest and Beverly Benoit of East Greenbush, N.Y. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews from: New York, Tennessee, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland and England.
