FRAGOLA, FRANK JOHN Frank John Fragola, 93, of North Haven, formerly of Hamden and New Haven, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of sixty-six years to Eleanor LaMonaca Fragola. Frank was born in Gioia Sannitica, Province of Caserta, Italy on August 9, 1920, a son of the late John and Carmela Troiano Fragola. He grew up in the Highwood section of Hamden, and resided in New Haven for nineteen years before moving to North Haven in 1966. Frank was a grocer and co-owner of the Point Beach Market (Shop & Save) of Milford for thirty years, retiring in 1982. He then worked for the Montowese Meat Market of North Haven for more than twenty years until 2010. Frank was a proud WWII Army Veteran of the European, African & Middle Eastern Theatre, and was a true gentleman to all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by a daughter, Susan Fragola-Catalano and her fiancé John Dunn of North Haven, two sons, John (Mary Kay) Fragola of Killingworth, and William (Patricia) Fragola of Ansonia, one sister, Dolores (Nathaniel) Foster of Hamden, six grandchildren, Mark (Nina) Fragola, Matthew (Renee) Fragola, Melissa and Amy Fragola, and Anthony and Angela Catalano, eight cherished great-grandchildren, and his beloved four-legged furry companion, Bentley. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Capone and Emily Aldrich. Frank’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christina Burial which will be celebrated at St. Ann Church, 930 Dixwell Ave., Hamden at 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
