Ivan José Zayas, Jr., 40 of Hamden, formerly of New Haven died peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Midstate Medical Center, Meriden with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elizandra Peña Zayas. Ivan was born in New Haven on June 2, 1980, a son of Ivan José and Haydee Milagros Pérez Zayas, Sr. and had lived most of his life in New Haven before moving to Hamden three years ago. Ivan was a 1998 graduate of Eli Whitney Technical High School, Hamden and was a supervisor at Wind River Environmental of Monroe at the time of his death. He had previously worked for Nustone Septic of North Haven and Sanitrol Septic Services of North Branford. Ivan was an amazing human being, husband, father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be sorely missed. In addition to his wife and parents, Ivan is survived by two daughters, Ivanaliz and Elianaliz Zayas of Hamden, his maternal grandmother Matilde Pérez of New Haven, a sister, Vanessa Zayas and her fiancé Dionte Dixon of West Haven, two nieces, Diamond and D'Lyana Dixon of West Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ivan's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 17th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
