Alfonse Andrew Marsico, 94, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at his North Haven home.
He was born on March 14, 1927 in New Haven to the late Salvatore and Rose Criscuolo Marsico. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Theresa Papa Marsico; his children, Roseann Marsico, Salvatore (Angela) Marsico and Maribeth (Brad) Gesler; his grandchildren, Sal, Alexis, Jillian, William and Olivia; and great-grandson Aidan, and his sisters Ann DeLucia and Rosemarie Esposito. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond and sisters Philomena Vollero and Elizabeth DeLucia.
A longtime parishioner of St. Therese Church in North Haven and a member of its Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus, his exacting and perfectionist nature led to his career as a print pressman. Al "Poppy" to those who loved him most taught us everything about generosity of spirit and unconditional love. We cherish our memories of joyous Christmas Eves, Sunday "Italian feasts," and the many, many hours we spent together as a family. He was a master landscaper and gardener, talented and creative woodworker, and a proud and doting grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandson, who now have a guardian angel forever.
Friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael's Church Saturday to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
