DeCarlo, Richard C.
Richard C. DeCarlo, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 2, 2018. He was born Sept. 15, 1934 to the late Charles and Ruth Scala DeCarlo. Richard began his career with the New Haven Register at the age of 10, selling newspapers on the street corner. After serving his country during the Korean Conflict as a head cook in the Army, he returned to the Register, working his way up to Transportation Manager, retiring after 38 years. After moving to Boca Raton, he worked another 6 years at Rexall Sundown. Richard enjoyed going to the casino with Mary, watching baseball, a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, fishing and crabbing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary Melillo DeCarlo, 5 step-children Larry Melillo, Lisa D'Andrea, Rick Melillo, James Melillo, Marybeth (Bryan) Clark, 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren a sister in law Rita DeCarlo, niece, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers John and Carmen DeCarlo. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 o'clock at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden, with military honors.
