JOHNSON, EDNA MAY Edna May Laiscell Johnson, beloved wife of James Johnson, Jr., died at her home in Branford February 6, 2013. She was born November 11, 1938 in Fairhaven, MA, a daughter of the late John and Rhoda DePina Laiscell. Mrs. Johnson formerly worked for the State of Connecticut, in human resources for Echlin Manufacturing and as a secretary at CT Hospice. She and her husband were the former owners of Dinky's Caf in New Haven and she also bartended at the Elm Caf in Branford. She was a member of the Branford Elks Club, BPOE 1939, and was a member of St. Stephen's AME Zion Church. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Rhoda Phillips and James (Danielle) Johnson, III of Branford; her grandchildren, Walter Rivera and Meagan Phillips; her great-granddaughter, Ava Swiderski; her brothers, John (Diane) Laiscell of Providence, RI and Edward (Marlene) Laiscell of MD; and her sisters, Judith Laiscell (Clarence Perry) of Rocky Hill and Debra Laiscell of Middletown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends are may call Sunday from 3 - 6 pm at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, and are invited to a funeral service Monday morning at 11:00 in St. Stephen's AME Zion Church, Rogers St., Branford.
