Anthony Cofrancesco In Memoriam
ANTHONY COFRANCESCO Dear Dad, Today would have been your birthday. Columbus Day (you would say that you were grateful that you were never named "Christopher" and that you didn't even have a middle name that reminded you of him). Today we remember and celebrate your life. In your view, the glass was always half-full, someone always had it much worse than us. (You invoked someone who said "I cried until I had no shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet.") So now, that is how we have come to look at things. Tomorrow is another day. "We'll deal with it." You showed us that things are not always the way they look, or seem. You would look at something in, the worst possible condition and say, "it's not how it looks now, think about how great it is going to look when I'm done with it." So we have come to cherish the potential in everything and the value of how far hard work and a little elbow grease will get you. Things you called "projects" kept you going. "Youth is wasted on the young," you would say. Life is short. There was nothing better than a good hot meal (preferably Italian) surrounded by family and friends (you had an army) or a good ballgame (always the Yankees, but never at the stadium "too many people,") or a good book (anything on The New York Times bestseller list) with a box of chocolate (probably Mollomars), while listening to a Big Band tune (always Sinatra). So we live life now without you, but we hope we live our lives as you did, cherishing time and looking forward, as always, to what tomorrow may bring. We will never forget you Dad. Love your Children, Mary, Patty & Frank
