Dorothy Leachman Obituary
Leachman, Dorothy
1932-2017
Dorothy Milo Leachman, 85, longtime resident of Stony Creek, died on November 27, 2017, in Westfield, MA. She was born on July 11, 1932 to Dorothy Frances Wassel and Stephen Andrew Milo. Dorothy's husband, Mark Leachman, predeceased her in 1988. Dorothy, or "Dotsie" as she was affectionately known to her family, is survived by her two sisters, Susan Miller-Coulter of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Ann Miller Schurman of Wheaton, Maryland; also by her loved nieces and nephew, Carolyn Miller-Coulter of Holyoke, MA, Jennie Nelson Schurman of New York, NY, Anna Grace Mbow of Silver Spring, MD, and Karel Joseph Schurman of Brooklyn, NY. Dorothy became a resident of Stony Creek in 1960. She had previously lived in Guilford, CT, and Springfield, MA, where she had begun her career as Sportswear Buyer for Allied Stores, eventually retiring as Vice President. Once in Stony Creek, Dorothy never wanted to live anywhere else. She loved her home in Stony Creek, the town itself, and her many neighbors and friends. She spent many precious hours and years gardening, cooking, reading, decorating, and entertaining. After retirement, she became a member of the Stony Creek Board and volunteered many hours at the Stony Creek Church of Christ and at the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library. There will be a private graveside service on June 16, 2018, in the Stony Creek Cemetery. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108 has been entrusted with the arrangements. www.nefcc.net
