Bouchard, Marie "Mazie" (Martin)
Marie "Mazie" (Martin) Bouchard, passed away peacefully at Apple Rehab in Avon on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Ivore "Butch" Bouchard for 65 years. Born in St. Agatha, Maine on December 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Roseanna (Caron) Martin. She was a stay at home mom for many years and retired from Stanadyne in 1985. She was a communicant at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville, and a life member of St. Jeans and French model clubs in New Britain. She enjoyed her retirement in Florida for many years, moving back to Unionville in 1996 and resided at Maple Village.
Her hobbies included dancing, camping, bingo, playing cards, boating and riding shotgun while her children and their friends water skied. She enjoyed cooking and hosting the best Christmas Eve parties for many years with her large family. She will always be remembered for singing at all of her parties, even though she could not carry a tune.
She is survived by her son, James Bouchard and his wife Roxanne of Northford, her daughter, Diane Bickford and her husband Greg of Unionville, five grandchildren, Stacie Bouchard, James Bouchard and his wife Lisa, Jeremy Bickford, Nicole Porter and her husband Gareth, and Brian Bickford, her brothers, Valdor Martin and his wife Theresa of Farmington, Thomas Martin and his wife Kathy of Bristol, Lincoln Martin of Bristol, and Valmond Martin of Newington. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Harold and Valier Martin, four sisters, Rolande Martin, Marion Corriveau, Lillian Gagnon, and Jackie Vallincourt and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the staff at Apple Rehab and Seasons Hospice for their grace and care during such a difficult time.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday (Sept. 8) from 8:00-9:30 a.m. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit 1E, Middlebury, CT 06762.
