Martin J. DeFelice III Obituary
DeFelice, III, Martin J.
On November 30th, surrounded by his family, Martin J DeFelice III of North Haven passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on December 19, 1967, son of the late Joan Izzo DeFelice and Martin DeFelice Jr. Marty was a graduate of East Haven High School in 1986 and Bates College in 1990 with a degree in economics. Marty worked at Yale New Haven Hospital for 13 years prior to becoming an EPIC consultant. He was able to return to Yale New Haven Hospital and worked as a financial analyst up until his passing. Throughout his life, Marty demonstrated his love and devotion to his family. He was a kind, sensitive and sentimental guy with a charismatic personality and wonderful sense of humor. Marty often reminisced about his fond childhood memories with his sister Debbie and all of their holiday traditions such as Christmas Eve at Aunt Carol's, Christmas Day and New Years at his Grandparents house, and his countless stories of every Disney trip taken with his family. Out of all the places in the world to visit, Marty always chose to go to the " Happiest Place on Earth". He truly was one of Disney's biggest fans. Marty was a voracious reader and had the ability to write as articulately as he spoke. He enjoyed his Italian heritage and all of traditional celebrations and food that were a part of it. Most of all, he was an amazing husband and father. The love and adoration that he had for his wife and two daughters will parallel to no other. He was a stellar example of what a husband and father should be. His daughter's not only referred to him as "Dad," but as their best friend. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Marty will forever feel the loss of his admirable presence, but will remember fondly all of the good times, laughs, and wonderful memories he left us with. Marty is survived by his beloved wife Michelle of 23 years, their two daughters Emma and Isabella, sister, Debbie (Edmond) Prunier , Stepmother, Marie DeFelice, step sisters, Sandra (Scott) Ridley, Maria (Paul) Scarpa, Sister-in-law Stacie (Dominick) D'Antonio, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his two best friends, David Grindle and Michael Savino, who he loved like brothers. Marty's family would like to thank everyone who has loved and supported them during this difficult time. There are no words that can adequately express their gratitude for the constant and unwavering support from our North Haven Community, family, lifelong friends and Marty's co-workers at Yale.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial MONDAY MORNING at 11:00 in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be NO CALLING HOURS.
