SULLIVAN, MILLICENTMillicent Sullivan, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017 at the Mary Wade Home, New Haven, Conn. She was 98. Millicent, born in New Haven, Conn. on November 25, 1918, was the daughter of John J. Sullivan and Nora Jordan Sullivan. She is survived by her step-son Frank Vollero, first cousin Ann McGovern Canning, Rita Jordan, Imelda and Frederick Hartman, James and Maryanne Canning, Elizabeth and Robert Miller, Bernadette Canning, John Tolbert, and Monica Canning Ball , Robert Ball. She is also survived by many additional family members, including Sister Margret Mary Jordan of Co. Mayo, Ireland. She also leaves her dear friends Christine Barker, Claude and Sabrina Carlier and Ann Barker. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in -law Rita and Larry Foley and Enzo Vollero. After studying at Vassar College and Harvard-Radcliffe , Millie was a successful career woman in Manhattan for many years before returning to Connecticut. She was instrumental in establishing the temporary labor market with Olsen and other firms in New Haven. In retirement, she traveled extensively in Europe and New Zealand. Known for her compassion and joyous spirit, Millie was kind and generous. She loved all animals but her heart belonged to her poodle, Dilly. Always enthusiastic about making new friends, she was a leader in her retirement community at Evergreen Woods and an active member of the Residents Council at Mary Wade. Her quick mind was evident in her interests in politics and sports. She was always up to date on the latest accomplishments of her family and caregivers. Millie's loved ones will be forever grateful to the caring staff of Mary Wade Skilled Nursing Facility. We cannot imagine what life would have been for Millie if she did not have your loving care. We know you will miss Millie as much as we will. A special thank you to Marlene Jarvis & Betty Campbell.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday March 4th at 10am at St. Mary Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave. New Haven. We all loved the time we spent with Millie. Never at a loss for words; always with a story to tell. Never saw her without a smile or without taking the time to laugh. God rest. Heaven has another angel.
