Priscilla Doris Rutherford Ballou of Branford, died Saturday June 10, 2018 at Branford Hills Health Care Center. Priscilla was born September 29, 1929 in Plymouth, New Hampshire, daughter of the late John and Flossie Merrill Rutherford. She was a graduate of the Plymouth State Teachers College and became a school teacher. She taught in New Hampshire, Utah, Scotland, CT, California, Vermont and in Guilford at A. Baldwin Middle School and Calvin Leete School. Priscilla was an amazing teacher and truly cared for every one of her children. She loved gardening and needlepoint. She loved watching the birds, rabbits and squirrels play. She especially loved hosting get togethers and making her jello salads and whoopie pies. Priscilla's family and friends meant the world to her. She is survived by her son Mark Ballou of Branford, her granddaughter, Amanda Ballou and her great grandchildren, Olivia and Delila and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald T. Ballou and her nine brothers and sisters: Richard, Beatrice, Helen, Ivan, Forrest, Lester, Edith, Ethel and Elsie. The family wishes to thank all of the professional and compassionate people who provided extraordinary care for our beloved Priscilla at the Branford Hills Health Care Center and at the Keepsake Village in the Hearth at Gardenside.
Friends may call on Friday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., with a service at 4:00 p.m., at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Memorial Trust Fund, Branford Hills Health Care Center, 189 Alps Road, Branford, CT. 06405.
