Evans, Richard
Richard J. Evans, 93, of Branford, formally of Madison, beloved husband of the late Shirley Evans, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
He was born April 1, 1924 to Harold and Edith Evans and grew up in in the New York Catskill Mountain area, where he began his love of golf. From Liberty High School, he then enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, serving as Technical Sergeant of Company K 415th Infantry Regiment until honorable discharge in 1945. After serving in World War II he then married and resided in Madison, CT for many years. He was a member of the VFW and the Madison Country Club. After retiring in 1990, he resided in Florida until recently.
He is survived by his three children. Jane Amadeo and her husband Peter of Northford, John Evans of East Haven and James Evans and his wife Mary of Branford. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son Richard J Evans Jr. and daughter Judith Ann (Evans) Milum.
