Roberta Crawford Johnson of Madison passed away June 6, 2018. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Doyle of Branford, and Carol Brown, of Block Island; she was predeceased by her brother William H. Crawford Jr. of Newport, R.I. Roberta was born in 1923 in New Haven and grew up in Branford. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Crawford and Clara Dibble Crawford of Branford, CT. She is survived by all seven of her children: Clif (Lisa) of Richmond, RI, Robert of Guilford, Nancy of Branford, Deborah Sloan (Ken) of Madison, William of Madison, Polly of Clinton and Michael of Madison, as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one great-grandchild, Rachael Crum of Guilford. Roberta was known for her positive outlook, sense of humor and kindness. She retired from working at age 90 and until her recent illness could be seen trucking on a treadmill at Planet Fitness. She was a 40 year member of TOPS Club Inc. (Take off Pounds Sensibly) and a devoted member of the North Guilford Congregational Church. She loved traveling and especially taking cruises with her family. Her life will be celebrated on her birthday Saturday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the North Guilford Congregational Church with no burial to follow. Roberta requested in lieu of flowers that gifts in her memory be made to North Guilford Congregational Church, Deacon's Fund, 159 Ledge Hill Road, Guilford, Connecticut 06437, or , P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142, which she donated to for years.
