cervin, frederick r. Frederick Russell Cervin, 72, of New Haven, passed away on August 9, 2013. He was born to the late Russell Cervin and Alice Tamte, Nov. 3, 1940, in Sacramento, CA. Fred earned a B.A. in Philosophy from North Park College in 1962 and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Seminary in 1968. Fred was a minister in the Covenant Church in Georgetown, CT. Around 1980 he became a carpenter and worked independently out of New Haven for the past 20+ years. Fred is survived by his beloved partner of 21 years, Maria Tupper and her two daughters: Rachel Winston (Mike) of East Haven and Becky Tupper of Oakland, CA; by two sons: Adam Cervin (Lisa) of Milford and Dan Cervin (Suzy) of Duluth, MN; by a sister: Faith Huff of Louisville, KY; by his father's second wife: Virginia Cervin of Walnut Creek, CA; by his former wife: Jeanne Cervin of Milford; and by five grandchildren. Fred was an intellectual voyager. He was a lover of the earth and an insatiable reader, passionate about philosophy, poetry, music, movies, gardening, and good conversation.
