JAMES McADAM Obituary
McADAM, JAMES James McAdam, 93, of Branford died peacefully on March 16, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Dahill McAdam. Their very special union can best be described as a match made in heaven. Jim was born in New Haven on October 19, 1921, son of the late George and Isabel McAdam. He is survived by his devoted sister, Catherine McAdam, and predeceased by his brother, Lionel. Jim’s life revolved around his family and his career. He was the proud father of Patricia (Ronald) Rowen of Virginia Beach, VA, Susan (Ross) Veltman of Menlo Park, CA, James (Michelle) McAdam of Branford and Beth (Scott) Lovestead, also of Branford. His grandchildren were the light of his life: Jennifer Chacon, Sara Fleeharty, Katie Rowen, Jacob Veltman, Joshua Veltman, Noah Veltman, Alyssa Porrello- Nashed, Jessica Lovestead, Joseph Porrello and great-grandchildren: Megan, Emma, Ryan, Gabriel, Lincoln, Zoe and Wylie. He also leaves behind his trusted aide, Andre Ford. He was a proud member of the Connecticut General Assembly serving as a State Representative from 1951 to 1959. He was Executive Vice President of the F.J. Dahill Company for the past 43 years working until February of this year. Everyone who has worked at Dahill was part of Jim’s extended family. Jim’s family would to like offer very special thanks to all the medical professionals who have taken care of Jim for so many years, and most especially to Dr. Vincent DiCola, Dr. David Eilbott, Dr. Sabet Hashim and Dr. Douglas Israel to whom we owe an enormous debt of gratitude. Jim will always be remembered as a kind, bright, warm, generous man who had a quick wit and gentle demeanor. He was always available to listen and offer sage advice. He had the wonderful ability to see the good in everyone. The memories he leaves behind will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. To know him was to love him. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday March 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St, Branford, CT 06405. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter www.ctfightsms.org, or to the Northeast Roofing Educational Foundation scholarship fund www.nerca.org/NEREF.
