Sue,
I just (10/08/2020) ran across Rich's obituary thanks to some other old friends of ours in the New Haven area. I only met Rich a couple of times, but I still remember how much he made me laugh. We sure could use more of that nowadays. I hope you are doing well. Your old Pre-Trial Diversion pal, from WAY OUT HERE IN COLORADO!!! All the best.

Saw this obituary while looking at Richard's company website. So sorry to hear about his passing. He definitely made a big mark in the world via his passion of Porsches. I am glad that he was able to find a passion and make some an impact.

Just heard of Richard's passing. I bought a 911-turbo from him in 2010 after visiting his shop. What a true gentleman and fun guy. As he used to say in his adds, "The finest available!" My Condolences to his family.

Brett. I'm truly sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I feel remiss in just finding out. I loved talking to him and especially his emphasis and insistence on calling me judge repeatedly. Every mention of his name always brought an inner smile to my heart. We have lost a great and compassionate man. Our thoughts and prayers. Judge Bob Hawley (ret) Wisconsin

It is with deep sorrow that I just learned of Richard's passing! I had the pleasure of knowing a great, fun, entertaining Porsche enthusiast!! It was always a great experience either talking with Richard on the phone or going to Connectucut to be given a great historical exchange walking around hearing his perspective on all of the different Porsches he had in his collection! I will truly miss a unique friend and Porsche Icon!!!! My sincere sympathy to Brett and his family !!!!Thank you Richard for our 30 year friendship ! You will truly be missed!!!! My deepest condolences to the Sloan family. I really enjoyed my conversations with Richard and his son over the years. He sold me a beautiful car quite some time ago, but the interaction with him was equally as enjoyable.

Dear Brett and Dana,
I am so sorry to hear about your father, I thought the food wasn't good that last time you gotten take out. So I decided to search online about your business and I found your father obituary. He will be missed from all of us here, his presence here in our Restaurant is distinctive. Everytime he comes in open the curtain like a showman. He is our friend, we wish him well in heaven. He enjoyed having meals with family here.

Dear Susan & family - I just found out about Richard yesterday by accident and am SO sorry. I'd known Richard for many years - I work for the Regional Water Authority and he was our copier sales rep going back to even before he worked for IKON. He was such a character & a fun guy and always made me laugh. He was the perfect salesperson! I hadn't seen him for several years and had known he was sick but hadn't heard anything else about him until yesterday. One day he was taking me to look at a copier demo at another company and came to pick me up in a Porsche. I admired the car and he said "Want to drive it?" UH OH -- I was afraid I would crash it! :-) I told him that and he said it was no big deal, that it was insured. I was still worried so I didn't take him up on the offer but that was Richard -- he was such a nice guy, he WOULD have let me drive it without a second thought.
I will miss him. My sincere sympathies to you and I know the memories will give you comfort.

Dear Dana and Brett,

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I met your father over fifteen years ago when calling on an add for one of his Porsches when he was just moving into his place in Woodbury. I bought the car and that day began a wonderful friendship centering around Porsches, but we shared so much more. He sold a number of cars for me and helped me buy several more. I always looked forward to my visits with him and lunches at Katz's. I watched him move from Woodbury to Hamden and to his current spot. He always had time for me and the varied friends I would introduce him to. I last saw him at his condo on the shore where we sat and talked about many things including his illness and his desire to beat it, but that he also knew the odds were not good. He was such a fighter with a tremendous spirit for life. He was so proud of both of you. I really loved and admired Richard and will miss him very much. My prayers and thoughts go out to you two and your family. My sincere condolences, Chris Caulfield

Richard sold me the love of my life a few months back, 1988 Carrera (red) with 19,600 miles on the clock. Even when he was sick Richard would answer my questions, he actually called me from his hospital bed. I will miss his candor and vast knowledge of the Porsche product. Thank You Richard ,

To the Sloan family... To know Richard was to know a true gentleman. I recall the many talks we had about family, life, and his passion for both. Far and few between are men like Richard. His contageous smile and quick wit are something i will always remember. Although too short, he lived life with great zest. The selfish part of me is sad, however i am proud to have known such a great, humble person. Rest in peace my friend..... Tom Nardone

Brett,
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time of sorrow. I enjoyed Richards company. He'd invite me to Katz's for lunch and somehow I'd always leave with another PORSCHE.I admire his tenacity and always wished I could instill it in my salespeople. I will truly miss Richards friendship.

It is with great sadness we all bear the loss of fun loving Richard. I will always remember his excitement (he was like a 12 year old!) when he and Susan surprised Brett (son) and Amy (future daughter in law) at Taco Cabana in good old San Antonio, TX for their wedding shower. It was a great time, enjoyed by all! Richard, may you be driving around in your favorite Porche for endless days! Thank you for the legacy you have left behind in our dear Brett! Rest in peace. Always, Soeurette Shook-Kelly
