ADAMS, MANETTE FISHWICK Manette Fishwick Adams, 90, died at Whitney Center in Hamden on November 17, 2016. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on January 5, 1926, a daughter of William & Nellie Fishwick. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke; and received her BA degree from Hollins College and her MA degree from Yale University. She is survived by her husband, Harry Baker Adams, and her three children; Lynne Adams of New York City, Susan Adams (Kent Mason) of Bethesda, MD, and Paul Adams (Susan Sperling) of Piedmont, CA. She also leaves five grandchildren; Zachary Mason, Katie Mason, Sam Mason, Jack Adams, and Zoey Adams; and one sister, Anne Hughes of Decatur, GA. She was involved in many church and volunteer activities including Adult Education in New Haven Public Schools, Literacy Volunteers, Director of Christian Education in the North Haven Congregational Church, the Board of Sage Services, Board of New Samaritans, New Haven Hospital Dog Visitation Program, and was the founder of the Cheshire Aids Refugees Program. A memorial service will be held at the Spring Glen Congregational Church, 1825 Whitney Avenue, Hamden at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3.
