Silver, Edward N.
Edward N. Silver, 92, of Orange, died peacefully on October 28, 2017, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in New Haven, he was a retired pharmacist and owner of Silver's Drug Shop of West Haven, where he served the community with care and compassion for over 50 years. A graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, Edward was an avid and accomplished golfer, golf rules official, skier, potter, philanthropist, Rotarian, and lover of worldwide travel and classical music. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Edward was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, of 52 years and is survived by his two brothers, David Silver (Meryl), Robert Silver and by daughter Wendy, son Richard, and two grandchildren Alex and Rachael. He is also survived by two nephews, Willam (Adrienne) and Scott Silver (Phyllis). He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, leadership, civic mindedness, style, charm, stoicism, self-discipline, determination, stamina, spirit of adventure and sense of humor.
Burial was private. All are welcome to join the family in celebration of Edward's life at Race Brook Country Club in Orange on Sunday November 5, 2017 at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WMNR Fine Arts Radio, where Edward regularly volunteered for 30 years, P.O. Box 920, Monroe, CT 06468 or at www.wmnr.org. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. was in care of arrangements.
