Peter Garceau Obituary

Garceau, Peter L.
Peter Leo Garceau, age 66 of Guilford, passed away on November 23, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Teresa (Amarante) Garceau, father of Chris (McKenzie) Garceau of Seattle, WA, Kara (Jeffrey) Cheney of Guilford, and Kurt (Courtney) Garceau of Guilford. Brother of Gerald (Laura) Garceau of Madison, Kenny (Marlene) Garceau of Bethany, Kathy (Steven) DeMorro of Yardley, PA, Paula (Peter) Hall of Fort Collins, CO, Roger (Marie) Garceau of North Haven and Joanne (Roger) Luciani of Woodbridge. Son of Pauline (Plant) Garceau of Woodbridge. Grandfather of Caleb, Noah, and Luke Cheney and Carter, Brody, and Paisley Garceau. Predeceased by his son David Michael Garceau, grandson Lathan David Cheney, and father Leo Joseph Garceau. Peter grew up in Woodbridge, where he graduated from Amity High School and attended St. Joseph's College in Jensen Beach, FL. As the General Manager of Amarante's Sea Cliff for over 35 years, he demonstrated the gift of hospitality with his natural ability to connect with customers, making every patron of Amarante's feel like family. Peter was very dedicated to Vertical Church in West Haven, where he gave his time and talents to serve on the administration Board, instruct financial classes, marital counseling, and Sunday service videography. His love for God and people was evident in all he did, praying for those he loved and selflessly reaching out to offer his assistance whenever needed. Peter's ability to bring laughter and joy to every situation left an imprint on the hearts of everyone he met. He had the natural gift to brighten any room and adored every minute he spent with his family. Peter's legacy will live on through them, as they take comfort knowing he has gone home to live with his Savior, Jesus.
Friends may call Monday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may attend a memorial service Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Vertical Church, 225 Meloy Road, West Haven. Burial will be private. Dear Teresa,
On the upcoming anniversary of dear Peter's passing, I remember with joy how kind Peter was to me when I booked one of the St. Mary's reunions. He was so personable. He acted as though it was one of his own family's reunions! God rest his soul!

Peter was a fine man of God - a true disciple of the Lord Jesus. His was a life very well lived. I was honored to have known him as my Christian Brother. His Homegoing Service was very beautiful, and most certainly well-deserved. My sincere condolences to Teresa and all the family. As believers, we know what a glorious reunion awaits us one day!

Love and blessings,

I am so sorry for your family's tragic loss. God is saddened and feels for all of the family as he sees them grieve. I am at a loss for words, that are adequate enough, to express my deep sorrow for Peter's passing. He was so very special to me and so many others and I will never forget his warm smile and welcoming ways. He always reminded me that I was a part of the family, introducing me as a cousin to all the brides that met with him at Amarante's. Sending my love and prayers to Teresa, Kara, Kurt, and Chris and all of their family. You are all the wonderful legacy he has left behind, but we are not without hope, that we will see him again one day, never to be separated again.

Dearest Teresa,

It was such a shock to hear of Peter's passing. Steve and I have many wonderful memories of our times shared studying the Bible at Nick and Julie's and praying together. I also loved our New Years Eve's that we shared. What a model of a Godly marriage you and Peter exhibited for all in your company. I am so very sad for your loss. I am comforted by the joy of knowing with certainty that heaven is joyful to have Peter in their midst.

A warm and welcoming smile, humor and wit that could soften even the most somber of souls, a way of making everyone feel special, that was you Peter. I am forever grateful to you and Teresa for showing me that Life begins with Jesus and for helping me grow in faith.
