Lansing, MI - Charlene L. McGinnis died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the age of 60. Born March 25, 1949 to Harold and Elnora Morton in Niagara Falls, NY. Charlene was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Orchid Cellmark in East Lansing. She belonged to the Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. As a devoted bible student and teacher she was learning the Vietnamese language so that she could expand her ministry in teaching others. Charlene was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.Surviving are her former husband of 26 years, Ernest McGinnis III of Lansing; son, Damon; daughters, Charise McGinnis, Ashante' (Ibenson) Joseph; grandchildren, DeJuan Wallace Jr., Cameron McGinnis, Widnia Joseph, Fleurette Joseph; sister, Gloria Morton; brothers, Harold (Diana) Morton, Jr., Darryl (Wendy) Morton; as well as several other family and friends. Services will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 12:30 PM from the Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 2330 N East St. Lansing 48906. Family will receive friends at Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 PM. For on-line condolences please visit

Dear McGinnis and Morton Family,

We are truly pained at heart of Charlene's passing. Our prayer for you all is that the love and support that Jehovah gives through the Worldwide Christian Brotherhood surrounds and comforts you.
We think back to the fond memories back here in Niagara Falls,NY that we had with your Family and look so forward to The Ressurection Hope that is before us all.

I’m sorry that I cannot be with you in person.Charlene was a kind and honorable woman. Her loyalty to her family and friends was remarkable.
