Donald G. Mundion

Donald G. Mundion, 84, of Medina, NY, passed away at his home, with his loving family by his side on December 22, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 4th, 1923, in Medina, NY, he was the son of the late Harry B. and Alice (Spensley) Mundion. Don grew up in Medina and enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII as an infantry soldier where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. On returning home he married the former Muriel H. Fox on March 6, 1946, raising two children. Don worked as a bartender for a number of establishments in the Medina/Lockport area. He also worked for a number a years at Whiting Door of Akron and lastly he retired as a salesman from the former Keebler Biscuit Co. of Alabama, NY. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing and long trips driving in his truck. Don was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lincoln Post # 1483 and Butts-Clark American Legion Post #204, the Elks Club of Albion and was a lifetime member of the Junior Wilson Sportsman Club. Don is survived by his son, Roger (Diane) Mundion of Medina; and a daughter, Bonnie (Chris) Matthews of Lockport; two grandchildren, John (Cheryl) Mundion and Kim (Aaron) Young, all of Medina; two great- grandchildren, Andy and Lyndsay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, Muriel, who passed away in 1995, Don is predeceased by a sister, Doris Sechowski; and a brother-in-law, Donald (Mary Jane) Fox. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Bates and Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with the Rev.
