My condolences to the Pietz and Romminger families on the death of their patriarch Allan. He simply was an incredible man - a positive happy individual greeting everyone with his meggawatt smile . He was a joyous life enhancer and to know Allan was to love him ..young and old alike. When dining in restaurants he invariably had to eat his food cold-as he spent his time happily talking to well wishers that came by to speak to him. He and the entire Pietz family had "personality plus" He had an extraordinary energy and vitality that he put to good use working hard for the residents of Welland and Niagara for more than forty five years. The pinnacle of his career was winning a seat as a conservative federal MP in our nations capital . Allan never forgot his small town roots and throughout his career displayed the same genuine interest in all individuals that he met -whether it was a Prime Minister , a prince or the disadvantaged . I will never for get the happy times that we all shared and the great excitement during his political campaigns. We will remember Allan as a truly great Canadian , a great family man , a friend and mentor to many.
Allan loved the wonderful people of Welland dearly . Allan we salute you we honour you we love and we will never forget you. Godspeed dear friend.

I’m so grateful for the time, all the stories & so many great conversations we shared. Allan would often share with me the past happenings in Welland, and I would always enjoy talking with him about the welland tunnel. He would always light up with a smile talking about it and how he pushed to have it built... and how he made it happen. It’s funny, because I often would thank him... and he would ask me “what for?” ...and I would reply “because you saved me a half hour drive...I used your tunnel today Mr. Pietz!” He would always laugh and with a smile say “Well...You are very welcome my friend”.

My sincerest condolences to you, his family, friends, and acquaintances. I will miss him a lot. God Bless.

Arlene and I are very sorry to hear of Allan's passing. We have great memories going back almost 40 years with him. Allan has contributed so much to the well-being of Niagara, and for that, we can all be very grateful. His life has meant a lot to everyone who knew him. He certainly had a personality larger-than-life. It has been a great honour for us to have known him, and to have been able to call him and Alice our friend. - Rob & Arlene Nicholson

I was deeply saddened to hear that Alllan passed away- he was one of the most incredible men that I have ever met .He was a happy positive person his entire life always warmly greeting people with his ear to ear smile. He was a joyous life enhancer that loved his family and his friends dearly.Allan had an extraordinary energy and vitality that he displayed running the dairy with his family and serving his constituents for more than forty five years. He loved talking to people and could remember details of their relatives going back generations .Allan displayed the same genuine concern and caring for all of the people he met -whether it was a Prime Minister - a Prince or the disadvantaged who down on their luck. Although his accomplishments in life are inspirational -the world is a sadder place for losing this humble kind man with a heart of gold. Allan and Alice were wonderful in-laws and doting grandparents to Amanda and Allan, Jr. As a beloved grandfather, Allan was a respected confidant and mentor during their formative years. He was always the consummate gentleman, gracious and kind to everyone he met. He loved his family and he lived life to the fullest. I have so many cherished memories of family celebrations and holidays spent together. I admired Allan’s unwavering Christian faith, his strength of character and resilience even in the face of tragedy and loss. He possessed an incredibly sharp mind and memory at the age of 95 and he continued to write beautiful letters to his grandson. Allan Pietz leaves a proud legacy for his grandchildren of dedicated public service as former mayor and Member of Parliament. God bless you Allan as you join your family in Heaven. We will miss you.

I remember Mr. Pietz delivering milk in a house drawn cart during the 1960s. He always had a smile on his face. Nice man and good politician. He will be missed.
