Just heard the news yesterday. So sad and surprising when I think of how active he was, swimming laps at lunch time in October with the leaf net pulled back. Always had a good relationship with him when I worked at the house. Our deepest sympathies to Susan.

I was saddened to hear Stafford had passed away. During the 80's Stafford along with a few of his friends from the Niagara Region attended a annual duck hunt on Wolf Island. The hunt portion was secondary to the relationships that were formed during those 5 day trips. A wonderful sense of humor and story teller. In our world Stafford you will be missed, rest in peace my friend.

Met Stafford years ago at a golf tournament fundraiser. I had known of him through his efforts to get emergency cardiac care to patients that needed it within the shortest time possible...time is muscle. His leadership lead to upgrades in ER triaging, initially in ER, then in the community.
He was very passionate about saving hearts, and has been responsible for saving many lives due to cardiovascular emergencies in the community.
His message of getting quality services to the front line was warmly received as I had lost my own father at his young age of 52, when there were no community support services . I commend Stafford for waking us all up to the need of emergency cardiac care in the community, especially outside the hospital, and the need to teach fitness and lifestyle changes at an early age to prevent cardiovascular disease. Thank you for your heroic push Stafford, as you helped reinforce that your vision for best cardiovascular care is helping to save lives.
My sincere condolences to Susan, family, friends, patients and the medical community.

On the rugby pitch Stafford was a treat to play with. He had fun, so you had fun. He was great, so you tried to be great. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and love of the game, rubbed off and made you a better player. I can still hear him out there.
Stafford was at his best at the Club, or at the Square, after the game. This was when his wit and keen sense of humour shone; especially when he broke out with one of his clever little ditties, with appropriate language, of course. He was very much at home surrounded by his Beach pals over a couple of pints.
Stafford Dobbin was a gentleman and a modest man. In his professional life as Dr. Dobbin, his accomplishments were numerous.
The only professional association I had with Stafford was when he set my finger during a rugby game in New York (it’s still a bit bent).
Although he is Irish, I know he will forgive me for stealing a few lines from Robbie Burns, which I think provides a good description of Stafford:
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
Farewell Stafford.

Stafford was family doctor to three generations of my family in Niagara Falls. He had a particularly special relationship to my late grandmother, Sadie Burnett as they both shared family roots in Northern Ireland. He also cared from my mother, Muriel, as well as me in later years. Dr. Dobbin will be missed by those with whom he worked at the clinic on Queen Street in Niagara Falls and the staff and clients of Heart Niagara which founded. Rest in peace Stafford.

When I moved back to Niagara it took me two years to get a doctor. I lucked out when Stafford became my doctor. He was a great one and we talked about many things beside medical issues. We had a common interest in rugby and I knew a lot of his friends from the Beach whom I played against. I am going to miss him and this came as a shock to me. All my condolences to you Susan.

Stafford contributed so much to the greater community; and now he has gone he has left a legacy of better health and fitness which will endure. To the medical community, he was often an inspiration as we adjusted to changing times by following his lead. And as an orator, he never failed with his dry wit and wry insights.
