Kenneth E. Huebner Obituary
MONTAGUE - Kenneth E. Huebner, age 73, of Montague, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30. Born and raised in Garfield, Kenneth resided in Vernon most of his life, later moving to Milford, Pa., and then to Montague.
Kenneth worked as a phys-ed teacher at both Garfield and Vernon Township high schools for many years, where he coached varsity baseball, and girls' basketball. An accomplished baseball player himself, Kenneth played nine years of professional baseball with the Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. Prior to that he played for Florida Southern College, where he was inducted into its Hall of Fame. After his professional career, he played in the Met League for the Clifton Phillies and was inducted into both the Garfield High School and Met League halls of fame.
Kenneth E. Huebner was the beloved father of Kenneth M. Huebner and his partner, Joseph Adams, of Hawthorne, and Lauren Williams and her partner, Kenyon Carter, of Roselle; loving grandfather of Chase Williams and Kenyon Carter Jr.; dear brother of Carol Kress and her husband, Tony, of Montvale; and beloved uncle of Amy Kress and Amanda Kress.
Cremation has been private. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne, with a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Township Scholarship Fund and mailed to Vernon Township School District, P.O.
