Patrick C. DiCanio of Shohola, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at home. The son of the late Charles and Lena (Schipelleti) DiCanio, he was born August 9, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 92 years old.
Patrick was married to the late Anna Elizabeth (Kavulich) DiCanio for 52 years prior to her death in 2017.
He settled in many different places, starting a family and first settling in Waldwick, NJ and shortly thereafter settled in Wantage, NJ. Patrick and Anna had a love for New England, so they moved to New Hampshire in 1986. In 1995, family brought Patrick and Anna back to settle in Shohola, PA where he continued to enjoy life with his family.
He was a member of St. Ann's R.C., in Shohola PA. He graduated with a B.A. in Accounting from St. John's University in Brooklyn, NY in 1953 and a B.S. from the New England College of Pharmacy in Boston, MA in 1961 and retired from being a pharmacist in 1995. During the Korean War, Patrick enlisted in the United States Army and served two years before being honorably discharged in July of 1956.
A family statement reads: "Dad was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed working on his silhouette wood projects of black bears, animals and people. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and was forever devoted to his wife Anna while she was alive. His memory will be in our hearts."
Left to cherish his memory are his loving son Michael and his wife Jerilyn, of Shohola, PA; his grandsons: James and fiancée Alexa Marsico and Eric DiCanio of Shohola, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eight siblings.
Services are private and under the direction of the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, 3412 Sr.97, Barryville, NY 12719 845-557-8010
