Phyllis Louise Hunt
Phyllis Louise Hunt, 81, passed at Newton Medical Center on Monday, February 15, 2021. She was born in Andes, NY on January 31, 1940 to the late Ward & Mary Hunt of Byram Township. She was a long time Sussex County resident, having resided in Newton for the past 5 years and 60 plus years in Byram Twp. She was predeceased by her brother, Herbie. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Robbin Lee, of Newton, NJ 6 grandchildren, and her sisters, Judy Butcher and her husband Fred of Hardwick Twp, NJ and Patricia Clements of Wilson Boro, PA and he long time friend, Lester Ray of Thomasville, GA.
Phyllis was affectionately known as "Aunt Phil" by her family, having had a close relationship with her nieces, Sarah Burcher-Howell of Warrenton, VA, Jill Butcher of Hardwick Twp and Kristy Clements of Wilson Boro, PA as well as her two nephews, Jonathan Clements and Evan Terrelonge of Wilson Boro, PA. Two of her fondest memories are traveling with her nieces to Hilton head Island, SC and Wheeling WV to attend the Jamboree.
She was employed for several years as a baker at the Heritage Restaurant in Byram Twp prior to 40 plus years working in the kitchen at Wild West City. We are especially grateful to the Stabile family for their many years of friendship and support, always making her feel a part of their family.
Aunt Phil met very few people she didn't consider a friend. She had a strong work ethic as well as being extremely determined and a woman of faith who always strived to be independent in spite of many obstacles over the past several years. She made us proud.
Interment will be held at a future date at Ouleout Valley Cemetery in New York State under the arrangements of Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Aunt Phil's memory to the Newton First Aid Squar, P.O. Box 5, Newton, NJ 07860.
